Senator Mike Lee Vows to Not Fund Government Until Border Secured

Elected officials are making the pledge as border patrol agents apprehended a record number of migrants in December.

U.S. Senator Mike Lee today publicly announced that he is taking the 2024 border crisis member pledge, an effort by the Immigration Accountability Project that urges all members of Congress to vote against all funding the government until the border is secured.

The effort comes as border patrol agents apprehended more than 300,000 illegal immigrants crossing the border into the U.S. in December, which set a new record.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, the senator backed the effort via a post that showed his full support.

“I will not vote to fund the government until our border is secure,” Lee stated. “And then ask your senators and representatives to make the same commitment.”

The Immigration Accountability Project said that they hope the pledge brings awareness to how dire the mass migration has become, and that the Biden Administration changes course.

“The Biden Administration's mishandling of the border continues to threaten national security and public safety while forcing American taxpayers to foot the bill,” the group wrote.
