Joe Rogan to Host Donald Trump on Podcast

Trump’s appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” aims to connect with Rogan’s massive, largely younger male audience.

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to sit down with Joe Rogan for an interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast on Friday. The podcast, boasting the largest audience in the U.S., could help Trump reach a key demographic—Rogan’s substantial following of young male listeners—before Election Day.

Politico, which first reported the interview, notes it will take place in Rogan’s studio in Austin, Texas.

Both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have been making strategic appearances on popular podcasts in recent weeks, a trend aimed at reaching diverse groups of voters. Harris recently appeared on “Call Her Daddy,” a top-rated podcast among female audiences, to discuss women’s issues. Meanwhile, Trump has participated in interviews with shows like Barstool Sports’ “Bussin with the Boys,” “Full Send,” and a podcast hosted by Patrick Bet-David.

While Rogan’s team has reportedly discussed the possibility of hosting Harris, no appearance has been scheduled, despite Election Day being just two weeks away.

Rogan’s appeal to a broad audience stems partly from his aversion to strict political lines; he’s openly supported figures across the political spectrum, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., as well as Trump. Although Rogan criticized Trump in the past, calling him a “threat to democracy,” he has also praised certain aspects of Trump’s presidency. In 2020, Rogan disclosed that he voted for Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgensen.

In August, Trump criticized Rogan on his Truth Social platform after the podcaster voiced support for Kennedy. “It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA2024,” Trump posted.

Rogan has also defended Trump at times, arguing that Trump’s leadership didn’t resemble dictatorial control, as some critics have suggested, and that he oversaw a strong economy during his term. Recently, Rogan commented that a Harris administration might not prioritize free speech in the U.S.

Though most episodes of “The Joe Rogan Experience” are not political, Rogan’s conversational style often challenges mainstream thinking and institutional norms. His wide range of guests includes stand-up comedians, academics, journalists, and actors, making the show a significant influence and occasional lightning rod in media and political circles.
