As Musk stirs controversy online, President Trump keeps his focus on passing historic tax and spending reform.

President Donald Trump came under fire Thursday after billionaire Elon Musk made a startling accusation on social media, claiming without evidence that Trump’s name is in the Jeffrey Epstein files. The explosive post immediately reignited debate and drew a swift backlash — but Trump didn’t blink.

“@RealDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk wrote on X. “That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” He followed it up with, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

Musk’s posts came amid a tense online exchange between the two, as Trump champions what he’s called one of the “Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress” — a sweeping $1.6 trillion spending cut and major tax overhaul that he says is vital to saving the country from economic collapse.

“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Trump’s team made it clear that Musk’s accusation was not only misleading but rooted in personal frustration.

A source familiar with the Epstein case noted that Trump had previously banned Epstein from his Palm Beach golf club. “If Elon truly thought the President was more deeply involved with Epstein, why did he hang out with him for 6 months and say he ‘loves him as much as a straight man can love a straight man?’” the source said.

President Trump addressed the drama head-on in a Truth Social post: “I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress,” he wrote. “It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that.”

“I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump also suggested Musk’s public outburst is tied to policy disputes. “Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!” Trump said.

Meanwhile, efforts to fully disclose the Epstein files continue. Attorney General Pam Bondi recently revealed that a “truckload” of documents was finally delivered by the FBI following her firm deadline. Earlier in the year, Bondi criticized the FBI for dragging its feet and producing only a small fraction of the case file.

So far, the released records include flight logs, contact lists, and a redacted “masseuse” list. While many names appear, most have not been accused of wrongdoing. Those facing public scrutiny include Ghislaine Maxwell, Prince Andrew, and the late Jean-Luc Brunel. Maxwell, who is serving a sentence in federal prison, is appealing her conviction and is due for release in 2037.

Musk’s broadside may have generated headlines, but it has yet to produce any new evidence — and President Trump remains focused on what he calls a path back to prosperity.
