All Five Living Presidents Attend State Funeral of Former President Jimmy Carter

Former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral in Washington, D.C., sees attendance from all living presidents.

In a solemn ceremony at the Washington National Cathedral, former President Jimmy Carter was honored with a state funeral attended by all living U.S. presidents, including President-Elect Donald Trump. The service brought together current and former leaders to pay their respects to the 39th president, who passed away on December 29 at the age of 100.

President Joe Biden delivered a eulogy, highlighting Carter’s character and commitment to treating everyone with dignity and respect. “We have an obligation to give hate no safe harbour,” Biden remarked, emphasizing the importance of standing up to abuse of power.

Donald Trump, seated next to Barack Obama, engaged in what appeared to be cordial conversation before the service began, demonstrating a moment of unity despite past political differences.

The ceremony also featured tributes from Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, who spoke of his grandfather’s integrity and humanitarian efforts. Notable attendees included former Vice Presidents, family members, and international figures such as Prince Edward and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Following the service, Carter’s coffin was transported to Georgia for burial alongside his wife, Rosalynn. The funeral procession and ceremonies reflected on Carter’s legacy as a humanitarian and his post-presidential contributions to global peace and health initiatives.
